Developing a safe Nightlife Atmosphere.

 

I have analyzed the benefits of Nightlife Tourism which has proved to be an unavoidable, significant factor for tourism development in the country. Every coin has two sides. Therefore it’s in our hand to take safety measures to prevent any unprecedented accidents. well, I’m going to give you some ideas to emphasize how we can maintain the safety while generating the income.

• Every club needs to have a team of security with a supervisor and a police officer where possible.

• Tourists should be well informed about the rules & guidlines before entering an entertainment establishment.

• Strict rules and fines should be imposed against those who violate the regulations.

• Security and staff should have a valid company ID and be well-uniformed which can be easily identified for patrons.

• Have security alarms at the entrance and check bags and carriages.

• Security and the staff should be well trained to control violent incidents, crowd control, identify intoxicated patrons, not to serve alcohol to them and to Identify sexual harassments.

• Staff needs to be trained to monitor the cameras and takes actions if there are any misbehaved guests, evacuate the person/s immediately and ensure not to let them re-enter. Putting Bans in place for those that are out of control. There is a news article published in Daily Mirror news that one of Sri Lanka's renowned politician's son named as Malaka Silva was banned legally by the court entering night clubs in Colombo due to his offensive behaviour and number of crimes committed by him. I totally agree with the judgment so in this way other patrons can enjoy a safer and quality nightlife.  

• Encourage groups to designate one person as a chaperone where he/she can be responsible for any issues, even having designated drivers where clubs can offer free soft drinks for example to the designated driver of each group. 

• With regard to the environmental pollution, the government should impose strict rules for those who damage the environment. 

• I suggest we should reduce plastic usage and have more recyclable & eco-friendly items in parties which will decay rapidly. 

International Nightlife Association is on a mission of taking necessary measures to develop nightlife tourism as below.

• Improve the image of nightlife businesses and entrepreneurs.

• Consolidate international regulations regarding security, environment, alcohol, tobacco, road safety, unfair competition and minors.

• Achieve the widest possible involvement of public entities in issues concerning the nightlife sector.

• Promote dialogue between nighttime hospitality entrepreneurs in different countries.

• Share difficulties and new trends to promote excellent quality venues.

• Provide education &  necessary trainings to create a world-class quality nightlife.

According to the below video of 4th International Nightlife Congress conference in Ibiza, had a fresh introduction to the conference on the measures and protocols to be adopted to combat sexual assault and sexual discrimination. They also have addressed the other related issues such as security, Alcoholism and the importance of having a quality nightlife destination for the tourists. 

Thus if we are able to take accurate measures to control the nightlife issues, we can take the maximum benefit out of Nightlife Tourism.
